SHERLOCK HOLMES (review)

Tripp Doogan's SHERLOCK HOLMES Movie Review

"Clever old-day style mystery flick, classic and characteristic!" -Tripp Doogan

I never was a big Sherlock Holmes fan as a youngsta, I heard the stories and the references about him but I never read the books or followed the hype. But this movie is good! I dont think they coulda found a better man for the role than Robert Downey Jr. either.. he played the part with character and charisma. A clever old-day style mystery flick, classic and characteristic! The plot was just as twisty and turny as you'd expect to go with the title, if not more so. There was a lil more action than I expected and the visual effects were on point. Those old-day settings are always a treat to watch, especially when they're believable, as this was. It's definately worth a watch! Very authentic. Jude Law did his thing in this one too, probly my favorite role I've seen from him.

SURROGATES (review)

Tripp Doogan's SURROGATES Movie Review

"This movie couldnt have been more ON-TIME in a world where people are so content with not keepin' it real!" -Tripp Doogan

This movie wasn't great as a movie itself, it was good, but the point behind the movie was better than 99% of movies to date! This movie couldnt have been more ON-TIME in a world where people are so content with not keepin' it real!! I bet fake people wont like this movie at all. People these days ara straying away from reality so much that I wouldnt be surprised if they came up with surrogates in real life, so people could live their lives thru from a chair in their home while their surrogates go thru life doing all the things they wanna do.. without aging, feeling pain, etc. People would be able to look as young as they want and be whoever they wanna be, but the catch is nobody would be real. I really love the point of this movie and I salute Bruce Willis for playing the real role, and the makers and script writers of this film- my hat comes off to you! Thank you for making a movie based on the importance of authenticity and realness... cuz this world has been taken over by fake people lately. Like I said, this couldnt have come at a better time. Everybody needs to watch this movie! Especially FAKE people!!!!!!!!!

THE INVENTION OF LYING (review)

Tripp Doogan's THE INVENTION OF LYING Movie Review

"I wish our world could really be like THIS for at least one week!!" -Tripp Doogan

In a world where everyone can only tell the truth, it's amazing the way people are! Nobody can tell a lie, and everyone trusts everyone elses word because they know it's the truth.. it's crazy because it's so unlike the world we live in, where everyone lies to everyone all day everyday. While watching this movie you start to realize how many lies people say on a daily basis. It's a good movie, funny, and original, with a creative script. It's worth watching! I wish our world could really be like this for at least one week!! I'd love to see people be true!! I'm one of those people who hate fake people, and alot of fake people hate me because I am blunt and truthful (similar to the people in this film). I think it'd be great to see people for who they really are.

THE BOX (review)

Tripp Doogan's THE BOX Movie Review

"One of the craziest movies I've ever seen!" -Tripp Doogan

A mysterious man with a disfigured face, appears at your door with a Box and an offer. In the box is a button, if you push the button you receive $1,000,000 cash, and someone you dont know will die. Would you push the button?? Better yet answer the question to yourself and then watch the movie and ask yourself the same question again after watching this crazy ass movie!! I think I can count on one hand how many times I blinked during this movie.. I was glued to the screen!! It's crazy!! It's a deep, insane mysterious movie with alot of wicked twists. A must see if you like a good mytery/suspense flick!!

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2 (review)

Tripp Doogan's NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2 Movie Review

"More interesting than the first one, but still not a great movie" -Tripp Doogan

The museum was more elaborate (using the Smithsonian as the place where the exhibits came to life in this one), there was more entertaining things to look at and it kept you wondering which things you were gonna see come to life next. But I think they coulda' took it alot farther than they did, and could have brought a whole lot more creative displays to life. I dont know I guess it was more interesting than the first one, but still not a great movie. Some parts were kinda funny, like the slap-out with the monkeys. Pretty entertaining effects but nothing major. Good one to watch with the kids.

BULLY (review)

Tripp Doogan's BULLY Movie Review

"I remember when I was 12 my mama brought in a newspaper with the story of this Florida murder on the front page." -Tripp Doogan

Only 7 years before his death, Brad Renfro starred as Marty Puccio in BULLY. I remember when I was 12 my mama brought in a newspaper with the story of this Florida murder on the front page. At the time I first read it I didnt think much of it aside from it was just another murder in my state, by some young teens. The movie is based on the true story I read about in that newspaper, it was released on Lions Gate Films in 2001, by Larry Clark - the director of "KIDS". The movie is pretty powerful as you get to see the inside look at teenagers lives and how easily they can be lost, taken, or thrown away over bad decisions. A bully (Bobby Kent) of Cooper City was murdered by his peers in 1993 after he mentally and physically bullied them to the point where they thought plotting on a way to kill him was their only option. This movie is a must see if you have kids, and a very powerful description of a true story!

2012 (review)

Tripp Doogan's 2012 Movie Review

"2012 is larger than life... litterally! Probly the best appocalyptic movie I've seen yet!" -Tripp Doogan

2012 is about a date that was figured to be the end of the world (on 12-21-2012). Since the movie came out there's been alot of talk about if it's true or not. There's no tellin' when the end of the world is gonna be, but the crazy thing is this could be a premonition. The end could come in our lifetime, and it could be just as devastating or worse than the way the movie portrays it. 2012 deffinately makes you think about your life and your time on this planet, and how it can be over so quick with little warning! I love this movie! I'll be watching this movie many more times! The action was dope! The effects were crazy! It just keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time! I'm gonna be gettin this one on Blu-Ray for the best visuals of it!! I already wanna watch it again. IT'S A MUST SEE.

TERMINATOR SALVATION (review)

Tripp Doogan's TERMINATOR SALVATION Movie Review

"This shit makes you wanna BE a Terminator!! Hardcore movie right here!!" -Tripp Doogan

Sam Worthington is turning into the action movie icon lately, with another powerful performance in this flick, he delivers hardcore action! I'm a big Terminator fan, although I think they went downhill after T-2, the 3rd one didn't raise the bar it actually lowered it. But with Salvation they brought back the true Terminator action! The man vs. machine essence it was originated with, but with the twist of a machine that was made out of a man, and finds out he's really a machine, and he fights as a machine for the sake of mankind. Bomb ass movie! I loved it.

TRAITOR (review)

Tripp Doogan's TRAITOR Movie Review

"Behind enemy lines in terrorism, like you've never seen it!" -Tripp Doogan

Don Cheadle was the perfect actor for this script! This movie is a in depth look at terrorism and the desperation of the victims and the terrorists. I cant say much without giving away the plot, but it's worth watching at least once. Good story line, good script, good acting, good suspense, and it has twists that you really dont expect. I thought it was a pretty good movie for its class.

APPALOOSA (review)

Tripp Doogan's APPALOOSA Movie Review

"I think this one went up to the #1 spot on my western movie list! Above Young Guns and Tombstone! This movie has heart!" -Tripp Doogan

Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen play a pair of hired guns in a small western town called Appaloosa. In the traditional western vibe of Tombstone and Young Guns, this movie takes you into the town and puts you right by their side thru the gunfights and abductions, etc. There's a lesson of honor in this story, which is probly what I respect most about this film. Two men that hold each other down in the essence of staying true to each other no matter the circumstances, down to ride and die for each other until the end. They dont make friends like that anymore! All "true" men can relate to this movie's story-line. Make sure you go pick this one up, you'll love it!!

LAW ABIDING CITIZEN (review)

Tripp Doogan's LAW ABIDING CITIZEN Movie Review

"Very original! It's like a cat & mouse dialog where the cat already caught the mouse but still couldn't stop it from wreaking havoc!" -Tripp Doogan

This movie is about a Law Abiding Citizen who's home was invaded, family was killed and the judicial system failed him in the worst way. Due to loopholes and technicallities in courtrooms that often allow the guilty to walk free after crimes cant be proven against em, this man takes street justice to a whole new level! Not only to take vengeance against the people who destroyed his family, but to force the judicial system to feel the pain and terror that comes along with judicial sytem failures in our society. One of the best and most original movies I've seen in a long time. I'll be watching this one over and over! Great plot, great acting, great action, great suspense, and a great underlying lesson to be learned about justice and the system that fails many in today's society. I hope every judge, police officer, detective, juror, and governement official in America watches this and comes away from it with a different outlook on how easily our judicial system fails people everyday.

FOUR CHRISTMASES (review)

Tripp Doogan's FOUR CHRISTMASES Movie Review

"It was funny at parts, but overall it wasn't entertaining enough for me." -Tripp Doogan

This was da 2nd Vince Vaughn movie I've watched this week (Couples Retreat being da other one), and I was let down by both of em. I'm a fan of Vince Vaughn but these last 2 movies were let-downs to me. There were a few parts dat had me laughin out loud but da characters were kinda lame, and da script was just too predictable and boring for me. I'm not much for chick-flicks anyway but having a girlfriend will get you stuck in front of da TV for movies like this from time to time. Even so, I've seen some chick-flicks I've enjoyed, and this wasnt really one of em. I wont say it's garbage, but it's not all that.

THE HANGOVER (review)

Tripp Doogan's THE HANGOVER Movie Review

"The Hangover is fuckin' funny!!! Non-stop hillarious, no matter how many times you watch it!" -Tripp Doogan

I'm not a big fan of comedy movies, cuz most of em go in da direction of dat slapstick retarded ignorant comedy, which just isnt funny to me. But The Hangover is a classic in the comedy genre! Funny but serious, serious but hillarious!! A bachellor party in Vegas turns into a night 4 friends cant remember, as they wake up confused, 1 friend short, and dont know whut dey did or where he is. On their quest around Vegas to figure out whut happened and where their lost friend is, dey uncover facts of da night before, peice by peice, and each peice is hillarious! It just gets better and better as da movie rolls on.. definately a must-see for anybody who needs a good laugh!!

AVATAR (review)

Tripp Doogan's AVATAR Movie Review

"James Cameron did his thing on this one! One of the best movies of all time! It's a fairytale for grown-ups.. Instant classic!" -Tripp Doogan

There's so much to be said for this movie! First off, if you didn't get to see it in da theatre, you betta have a big ass high quality TV!! Cuz this aint da type of movie you just sit around and watch, you get drawn into his whole other world and experience everything they experience! I wouldnt even know how to classify it, Avatar is a little of every movie genre.. Sci-fi, Drama, Fantasy, Adventure, Action, Suspense, War, Comedy, all of em combined into one story line gives Avatar da ability to stand out in da film market for decades to come! It's da best 'breakthrough' movie since Jurassic Park. Cinematography, characters, production, the sets, effects, the overall feeling you get when you get drawn into this world of theirs... it's got it all!! It's a fairytale for grown-ups. This movie is good for anyone, and everyone. I had to see it in da theatre... TWICE!!

COUPLES RETREAT (review)

Tripp Doogan's COUPLES RETREAT Movie Review

"Couples Retreat was a good one to watch with your partner, each couple can relate in their own problematic way.." -Tripp Doogan

I thought it was a good movie, but not great. I'm a fan of Vince Vaughn and his comedic performances, but I dont think his character shined up to his potential of how funny he can be. I've seen better movies with him in em, and dats probly why I felt kinda let down by this one a lil bit. Dont get me wrong it was cool, I'd watch it again, but I had higher expectations from it, and it didnt really deliver in da ways I expected it to. But it's a good flick to sit back and enjoy with your partner and while it's rolling, you find yourslef comparing your relationship to some of da characters in this flick. It's definately worth seeing at least once.

SHUTTER ISLAND (review)

Tripp Doogan's SHUTTER ISLAND Movie Review

"Martin Scorsese is brilliant with this dark, grim journey into a psycho realm! SHUTTER ISLAND is one you might have to watch twice! DiCaprio was at his best once again!" -Tripp Doogan

From da looks of da previews, I was expecting a horror movie, but it was more along da lines of a mystery/thriller. Kinda slow story-line but for all da right reasons. It starts you out on da bout ride in to Shutter Island, with DiCaprio and his partner, heading into a island facility where da worst of da worst criminally insane are kept for treatment, on a mission to uncover da truth about a recently escaped patient. I dont wanna say too much and ruin it for anybody, but I definately wanna watch it again, to learn more about da story. It was one of da most unique mysteries I've watched in years! Kept me entertained up to da end and past it! I think it's one of those movies some will hate and some will love, with no in between. I loved it! I recomend it to anyone who appreciates a well crafted story line into a grim journey!
